Up and Down Lyndale
For our holiday project, we wanted to incorporate the neighborhood surrounding our new office space. The stretch of Lyndale Avenue between Franklin and 31st is a unique east-of-Uptown area that features almost exclusively independent businesses. But aside from the occasional happy hour hot spot and cafe, we knew there were a lot of storefronts we still weren’t familiar with. We decided to create a website that would help us explore the area and inspire others to get to know it as well. The result was Up and Down Lyndale, a dynamic tour guide that helps visitors find restaurants, shops, entertainment and services. The site is populated with reviews and personal anecdotes by our staff, as well as photography that we fetched by walking the cold Minnesota streets and ringing lots of doorbells. Beyond adorning the site with our own illustrative touches, we wanted the imagery of the neighborhood to do the heavy lifting. We hope to continue developing the site as we learn about more businesses that we pass on Lyndale every day.
