Is this the future of Nike+?

Appleinsider has published a pretty comprehensive look at a new patent filing around a complete fitness program centered around the iPod. No partners have been named and some new sensors are shown so it’s not clear if this is an Apple-only initiative or if it’s an extension of the Nike+ partnership. (As always feel free to post an anonymous comment if you know).

At least it’s a sign that someone understands the value is in the software.

    What interests me is how this could be shaping up to be more than the product, more than the software, and even more than the service. Apple could be developing a whole new system. Very ambitious!
