Stratified services.
Received a notification in my email today that I have been upgraded to ElitePlus, a new program for “Expedia’s best members.” I did a quick web search on this and couldn’t find anything about it which leads me to believe that they are doing an Amex Centurion type launch and keeping it under wraps from their general members.
I know the idea of tiered service is not terribly new but I think this is one of the first I’ve seen for a web-only property. Largely due to the fact that I somehow managed to be included in the elite level, I think this is a nice idea. I think we’ll see more of these kinds of levels created around other web properties in the future.
