Linkedin visualization tools.

Individually and as a company, we’re big fans of Linkedin. We’ve found it to be a valuable tool in a host of different ways. However, one big area of opportunity is in data visualization.
Network stats don’t really do it for me, I’d love to be able to have more detailed, customised reporting and visualisation of my contacts. What is it that leads some people to be more connected than others? How many industries does the typical user have within their contacts? Which industries are more connected than others?
In conjunction with opening up the Linkedin API, I think they also ought to consider opening up data access. While this might seem like giving away the crown jewels, I think it would make Linkedin far more valuable, and allow Linkedin to leapfrog Facebook rather than just matching them. Because it’s all business, Linkedin data is far more useful in this regard.
If not free, then they could make it a feature of the premium service. In fact, it’s probably a brand new revenue stream if its well implemented.
