An historic moment in the development of civilization.

I usually make it a rule not to simply echo other stuff on the web, but this post was too mindblowing to resist. While poring through a report titled: Key Indicators of the Labour Market (KILM), Peter Magnusson uncovered the fact that agriculture has been displaced as the primary sector of employment for humankind.

On its own this would be news enough. However, what’s even more surprising is the fact that it is the services sector and NOT the industrial sector that has emerged as dominant.

We named the move from agriculture to industry The Industrial Revolution. In fact, it never really was, as agriculture remained dominant. However, what we have now IS a true revolution. A Services Revolution.

More humans are engaged in work that is one step removed, one step abstracted from anything that has a physical, tangible output. This is an abstracted economy indeed.
